a bit about your organisation. I'm so pleased that such an institution has
lasted for so long. I love history and I'm fascinated with the wealth of history
that has been preserved all this time. This coupled with generation after
generation of man joining to continue it all. So many traditions are
disappearing everyday, knowledge gets lost its information and knowledge that is
most precious 2nd to life of course. I love to learn especially off other people
and sometimes people can learn off me and in time lots more. I have thought
about joining but I'm a bit unclear on what you do. I agree and relate to your
statements. I believe in good and evil and that it is important to do the right
thing not just to please laws and rules but morally what I feel. I'm worried
about the future even though I will only be around for 30-50 years if all goes
well. I cannot talk about things in a public forum no one has time anymore to
talk about life everyone’s in a rush and there seems to be less commitment in
nearly all our foundation pillars of society like marriage, careers, friendships
and looking after those that are in need young and old especially the elderly.
More and More families are rejecting their elders as they do not have the time
to care for them so they end up in a home or worse lonely and alone. I myself
have great guilt when I think of such things. I'm sometimes ashamed of what our
society has become there is no respect for traditions. I know that one man
cannot do it alone but if everyone did a few good things a day it would make the
world a better place.

South Wales! We owe a great deal to Irish Freemasonry, because the first
Warranted lodge to meet on our shores was Irish (i.e. the Lodge of Social &
Military Virtue, No 227, attached to the 46th Regiment of Foot). When the 46th
left in 1817, they were replaced by the 48th Regiment, who carried Irish warrant
No 218. This lodge in turn sponsored the establishment of Australia's first
Stationary Lodge, the Australian Social Lodge No 260 (Irish), in 1820. 185 years
later, this lodge is still working, as the Lodge of Antiquity No 1 (NSW). In its
turn, the Australian Social Lodge sponsored the establishment of many other
lodges in eastern Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. As a footnote,
the Lodge of Social & Military Virtues No 227 sponsored another stationary lodge
whilst serving in Nova Scotia in 1757-8: its Daughter came to be known as the
Lodge of Antiquity No 1 of Montreal!
