Comments:I was prompted to 'surf' for Irish Masonic websites, having just
received, courtesy of Bro. Doug Welden of West Lakes, Sth. Australia, copy of
Bro. Ron Cook's paper 'The Irish Connection' concerning Irish Regimental Lodges
in NSW and Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) as I am currently researching the
history of the oldest surviving Knight Templar Preceptory in Australia 'Pembroke
Preceptory of Australasia' No.1VC. The earliest K.T. Ecampments in Australia,
were those attached to British Regiments in the 19th century which had Irish
travelling Craft Warrants, some of which, became stationary, when regiments were
re-located and some of the members elected to remain; eg. that of the North
British Fusiliers, subsequently named The 21st Regiment of Royal Scots
Fusiliers, which carried an Irish Warrant, to become No.33, issued in Dublin in
1734. The attached H.K.T. Encampment was established in 1763 and was confirmed
as a Stationary one on 23/May/1840 and a confirming Warrant was issued. I
congratulate you on a most interesting and informative website.

to an Irish radio program about the organisation and I have to say, the site has
dimished some of the mysths which still abound to this day' - That catholics are
not admitted and one has to be of the Church of Ireland to becomne a member in
Ireland. - That members have to keep their membership secret, which considering
that soem of your members names are listed is patently untrue. Thanks for the
